Skyrim Not Starting Windows 10

Availability of updates for the device and the game may also cause performance and stability issues with games on Windows 10. See Check for Updates for apps and games from Windows Store and How to get software and driver updates for Windows 10 for the steps on how to keep the game and the Windows 10 PC up-to-date.

OT: Windows 10 fail.

Skyrim se not starting

First question: Am I stupid or what? I read and fell for all the propoganda about Windows 10 and so I installed it. I find that almost every program I was used to using with Windows 7 has now morphed into some unusable or unopenable mish mash (trying to not get too technical as you can see.) Games that I had been playing literally for years are totally disfunctional. A specific example, Elder Scrolls/Skyrim. Anytime I attempt to open it, my computer locks up until I kill power and restart. So, okay, it's just a game. Maybe if I delete it and reload it I can get it to work again. HAHA what a fool! Back to my original question, am I stupid? Well, no problem, I'll get rid of 10 and go back to 7. Easy? Of course not. W10 was a free install. Trying to figure out work-arounds, operational differences of most of my standard programs takes time. I figure I'm old and slow, all I need is to learn the system problem is, I'm now told in order to get rid of this new and improved version and return to my ever faithful W7, I have to buy it! Heinlein said it best, 'TANSTAAFL'. Okay, okay, I give up. I'll bite the bullet, and go get a W10 compatable version of the game and reload it. I'm starting to believe I am stupid. After visiting web sites and brick and mortar stores I find that A: I am scoffed at for looking for PC games. Unless I have Nintendexboxps4 there are no games for PCs. I am, as my late Mother used to say, 'shitoutaluck'. The few stores that respect their elders and carry an anemic section of PC games only have games that are compatible with Windows 7. In fact every single game carried by major companies (Bethesda, EA, Broderbun and so on) only mention Windows 7 or XP as a requirement. Okay, so I am definitely stupid, would a company such as, oh say, Microsoft be so evil as to offer for free an upgrade that doesn't allow previously loaded programs to be grandfathered in? Wouldn't a new OS allow you to keep and use programs from the previous level? I ask the clerk at Walmart (one of the elder respecting companies) whether or not a brand new version of Skyrim will work in Windows 10 even though the box says Windows 7? Her response was 'Idunno' If I take it home and find it doesn't work, can I return it? 'Uh, no.' So, second question: What do I need to do to play Skyrim on W10 or am I just (all together now) stupid?
